If I won the lottery....or had 12 more hours in the day.

I love being crafty, I really really do. But the problem is that I have a pesky job, a toddler at home to chase around and smother with smooches, adoption paperwork coming out of my ears, a house to paint inside and out and get on the market in just a few short weeks, a new house to get into move-in see where I'm going with this. I have NO "Martha time" these days. Instead I drool over blogs like Homemade by Jill and wish I had her time and talent. But if I won the lottery or was granted 12 more hours in a day, here's what I'd do:

  1. I'd buy this book and make millions of adorable stuffies for everyone I know until they were coming out of my ears. (You can get two free patterns for the dog and bunny you see over on Martha Stewart's website.)

  2. I would grow an organic garden, shop at the farmer's market and learn how to can and pickle and make jam so we could eat locally-grown, organic fruits and veggies all year long.

  3. I would try Crunchy Chicken's recipe / tutorial for making home made butter.

  4. I would make (some of) my own clothes and especially repurpose / refashion some oldies but goodies. (I'll admit I love thrift store shopping.)
  5. 5. I would learn how to make handmade soap like this because a) it's pretty and b) we could eliminate a lot of plastic bottles that way. Then I could move onto home made lotions and other products.

Sadly I just don't have time right now for fun things like this. Maybe I'll buy a lotto ticket on the way home tonight...

I saw your question about lotion making on ivillage but my computer was acting up. My fiance and I made our own bar soap and shaving cream and it wasn't all that bad. There are a ton of books on the subject but the one we have been using is called "Better Home Basics"

I started reading you blog to find the shaving cream recipe but I never got to it because I kept finding other interesting things to read there. D'oh! I have to get back and actually get the recipe this time! :)
