Random Friday thoughts...

Move over chocolate, I have a new love: Felt. Yes, felt! But don't think Vacation Bible School craft project - think felt all grown up with a funky kick. I am completely in love with the little felt pieces by Jen Menkhaus (which you can find in her Etsy shop The Littlest Bean). Seriously, how much cuter can you get? I'm putting this on my "things I'd like for mother's day" list. But, in the meantime, I couldn't stop myself from running out to the craft store for some felt supplies of my own. Hmm, is that rude? "Here's a great cute adorable wonderful product....now I'm going to copy it." Well I'll at least qualify (defend?) that by saying that I think that $5 - $10 is a good price, but I can't possibly make up my mind and really can't possibly afford to buy all of the ones I love in Jen's store. So I'm just going to exercise my own, much more limited, creativity and make a diaper bag tag for the cute (yet plain) new denim bag I bought at Goodwill this week. Stay tuned for pictures of that...

In other news... I think I now know what happened to our compost pile over the winter. No, that's not really our squirrel, but ours is just about that fat. Marc and I kept wondering what was going to happen to the food scraps that we threw out there over the winter. Would they actually decompose, or would it be like sticking them in the freezer for the winter? After seeing a rather large Mr. Squirrelers out for a stroll in our backyard today, I think I know the answer to that. Our squirrel wouldn't hold still long enough for a photo. I think he was embarrassed. He said something about the camera adding 10 pounds. (come on that was funny!)

I think we're seriously on the road to becoming a ziploc bag-less household. I told Marc my plan to be completely "off of" (ha - like it's crack!) ziploc baggies and paper towels / napkins by the end of the year. So far I've made some little fabric baggies for Fletcher to carry his snacks in and he loves them. And every time I go to grab a ziploc I force myself to stop and think of another alternative. Tupperware really seems to be a suitable replacement in just about every case so far. So I am vowing here and now, before my three loyal readers, that I will not buy any more ziploc baggies! I think I'm a changed woman. Now to wean my husband off of paper napkins...

Hi there,
New to your site...love it! Great sense of humor! I totally feel you on the ziploc bags and especially paper towels for us! My husband is a paper towel nazi! We're weaning from those at the moment...and aspire like you, to be FREED from all the waste.

I'm a new reader too! I love your ideas, comments, and links to other cool stuff, so now you know you have more than 3 readers. Since I started reading I've also cut down on Ziplock baggies.
