Food, Inc. on PBS

Food, Inc. on POV

If you're the last person on earth who hasn't seen Food, Inc. -- oh wait, that's me! -- you can catch it on PBS tomorrow, April 21st.

PBS is encouraging folks to host a potluck style viewing party of the movie.
Invite your family and friends over for a healthy organic meal. Then watch the Oscar-nominated Food, Inc. and discuss what we eat, how it's produced and where we should go from here. PBS's Point Of View has free gifts to give away - books, gift cards, sustainable food items and more - and they'll be selecting some lucky potluck hosts and participants to receive them!
Sounds like my nerdy type of fun. Anyone want to come over?

In case you miss it, it's also on Netflix Watch Instantly. (I've had it queued forever but keep watching old tv shows instead...shame on me!)

This is such a great movie. It has really changed how we eat and view our food choices. I am so glad PBS is going to show this movie.

This was the movie that truly began my husband's conversion. He tends to glaze over when I get soapboxy about sustainable eating ("blah blah blah not buying beef blah blah" is what he hears, I think)

But I employed my Clever Wife Tactic of happening to watch this movie while he was at home working on his computer, and fairly soon he was sitting at the computer watching, and fairly soon after that he'd abandoned the computer to sit with me on the couch, and it really made an impression on him. He still wants his burgers, but he Gets It.

My husband has come such a long way over the past few years. We're finally at a point (especially since I do the cooking now) where we don't really eat boxed / prepackaged foods anymore (maybe 20% of the time and that includes pasta).

Anyway, he definitely knows what the right thing to do is, he just had a hard time with "should do" v. what he's used to and what he loves. He's also extremely cheap and we know that the cheap foods are the ones that aren't good for you.

I hope this will push him just a little bit further down the right path.
