I'm just sayin' #3 - clothing sizes

The shorts on the left are size 18 months for my little guy. (Yeah, he's three...but he's really skinny.) The shorts on the right are size 5T for my daughter. I think the 5T would actually fit my son better than the 18 month shorts. What's up with kids' clothes sizing?

Who knows. I accidentally picked up a clothing set at the used kids shop. The shirt was a 3. The pants, a 7--and they could stay up on my skinny guy!

Don't even get me started on kids clothes sizing. I've almost given up completely even looking at the tags. I've definitely become a hold-it-up-and-guess evaluator of size.

My boys are almost exactly 3yrs apart. One day I realized the 2yr old was wearing 18mo shorts and a 3T shirt, and the 5yr old was wearing 5T shorts and a 3T shirt. The shirts are not interchangeable, the 5yr old's 3T shirt swims on the 2yr old, yet they are labeled as the exact same size. Drives me crazy.
