Back among the living!

I've taken a little hiatus from the ol' blog to work on another creative project, Dwell Antiques & Home. Dwell is a retail store I'm going to be opening with my mom (Antiques by Joy) and another friend, Melanie (Magpie. Fresh Design).

So we've been off on buying trips and I've been working my fingers to the bone fixing and polishing and painting and sewing. It's been fabulously exhausting.

We had hoped to open our brick-and-mortar store by now, but the lease is taking a bit longer than expected. (Wah!) Instead, we premiered at the Old Glory Antiques Fair last weekend and received a tremendous reception from current and new customers and other folks in the industry too.

I finally had the opportunity to meet Jeanne Oliver of Jeanne Oliver Designs and she's just lovely in person as Joy and Melanie have described her to be. With her was Tiffany of The Fancy Farmgirl whose blog I stumbled upon a few weeks ago and instantly fell in love. Jeanne and Tiffany were two little rays of sunshine in ruffles and cowgirl boots.

I missed meeting the two featured guests - Jo Packham of Where Women Create, and Ki Nassauer of Flea Market Style Magazine. Jo walked through our booth as we were removing wet plastic after the rain storm on Friday...such bad timing...everything was wet and thrown into piles. Such is life.

At any rate, I am extremely anxious and excited about getting the store opened up. Hopefully it will only be 6 to 8 more weeks, but I promise to keep you all posted and start posting more here on the ol' blog. In the meantime, please (pleeeeeeease?) follow us on Facebook ~ Dwell Antiques & Home.
